Alone among the phone-hacking victims, former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie is unapologetically chipper about it all
Somehow the coinage "phone-hacking victim" doesn't always resonate quite so piteously once Heather Mills and Ulrika join the litigious throng. Are there serious and less-serious hackings ? as Ken Clarke might inquire on a very bad day? But at least one victim won't play victim at all.
Enter the ubiquitous Kelvin MacKenzie, ex-editor of the Bun, telling the Guardian: "I'm very pleased my phone was hacked. I was worried at one stage that I was nothing at all".
Whatever you say about Kelvin (and, boy, there can be a lot to say) he certainly doesn't do hypocrisy. I remember, a few years ago, when a brave Mail on Sunday reporter ? my daughter-in-law, actually ? tracked him and a Wapping secretary down to a Caribbean "love nest". Gotcha! No thought of superinjunctions there then: only super imprecations with a resolute bad-boy shrug.
