The Scotland international Garry O'Connor has been arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine.
The 28-year-old, who is currently without a club after leaving Barnsley last month, was allegedly caught with the Class A drug in Edinburgh during the early hours of Saturday morning. The striker, from Port Seton, East Lothian, was detained by police but released without charge pending further examination.
O'Connor started his career at Hibernian and has also played for Birmingham City and Lokomotiv Moscow.
On Sunday, officers allegedly caught two Hearts players with an illegal substance. The 26-year-old midfielder Ian Black and the 19-year-old striker Robert Ogleby were detained on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug and later released.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders police said: "We had two people detained, both were cautioned and charged."
