Is the Huffington Post making strides in the UK? No comment

Arianna Huffington's online paper recently recorded its 100 millionth user comment in the US. Levels of reader response in the UK aren't quite at that level yet

Arianna's famous Huffington Post claimed its 100 millionth comment the other day, avowedly running at some 175,000 comments every 24 hours: a blogbuster of a boast. So how is its UK edition, launched with such extravagant hopes, doing? I counted the average number of comments on its top 10 blogs three weeks ago: 2.9 per piece. The week after: 3.9. Last week: only 5.4, even in the eye of the London storm.

Not remotely the 10,000 or so per US piece that Arianna likes to claim as commonplace. Conquering America took her years of slog and nil profit (and her new bosses at AOL, losing $11.4m in the second quarter despite her magic touch, haven't turned any corners yet). Conquering Britain looks like the same hard slog all over again.
