? Tim Bresnan suffering minor discomfort in right leg
? Bowler awaiting results of MRI scan before World Cup quarter-final
Tim Bresnan has had a precautionary scan on his calf, but England are optimistic he will be fit for their World Cup quarter-final against Sri Lanka.
Bresnan has suffered minor discomfort in his right leg and it was decided on Wednesday to conduct an MRI scan to check out the problem.
An injury in the same muscle forced the seamer home early from this winter's one-day international series in Australia.
England could ill-afford a significant recurrence, because Bresnan has been the mainstay of an otherwise inconsistent attack through the group stages of their campaign in the sub-Continent. The results of the scan were expected later on Thursday.
