Live clinic: Self-assessment tax returns

Worried about the approaching self-assessment tax deadline? Want help filling in your tax return? Put your questions to our panel of experts

There are just 14 days until 31 January and the deadline for filing online self-assessment tax returns. This is the final deadline, so those filling in their returns now will be responsible for calculating the amount of tax due.

Advice is available through your tax office or the HM Revenue and Customs helpline (0845 900 0444), but this is likely to be groaning under the weight of calls in the next two weeks.

And those of you familiar with the recent debacle over HMRC claiming incorrect amounts of tax from millions of people over the past six years may not want to rely entirely on advice from the Revenue.

Tax experts Angela Beech, partner with accountants Blick Rothenberg, and Matt Coward, partner with accountants Price Bailey, will be online at 12.30pm tomorrow to answer any questions you may have about your tax return.

So if you spent last weekend trying but failing to fill in your online tax form, or know you are going to get stuck on a particular area of the tax rules, please post your question below.
